Message from the President

Our neighborhood is green and beautiful as the sounds of summer surround us. This is truly a great time of the year. Now is the time for us all to remain good neighbors by keeping our homes and lawns continuing to look their best. The association has received calls of concerns and requests of help to head off potential problems. These include unkempt yards and loud parties in some areas. Callers were frustrated and just did not know where to turn. If it is a police matter, our Neighborhood Patrol Officer is Sergeant, Brian Vance. You may contact him at (515) 205-2289. Other problems can be addressed by the general information number of Public Works (515) 283-4950.

I want to thank Crown Cleaners for taking a stand against the apparent abandoned convenience store at SW 42nd and Park Avenue. It has been unoccupied for several months, with product and gas tanks still visible. Crown Cleaners' clever sign helps draw attention to the problem next door. We all need to be concerned about this abandoned business in our neighborhood and continue to let our voices be heard. On a personal note, in late spring, the view from my window was that of a mother giving birth to two baby deer in my own backyard. It was awesome to view nature in its simplest form. We definitely have the best neighborhood when it comes to lifestyle, nature and people. We are all very fortunate. Our next get-together will be Neighborhood Night Out , August 3. I hope we can all attend. Watch out for deer (especially the two babies).
